Out of 67 counties in the State of Florida, Pinellas County is proud to be 1 of the 8 the State has entrusted the responsibility of air quality monitoring.  We are currently seeking an Environmental Division Manager to continue these efforts while managing the Air Quality Division.  This management position is responsible for planning, managing and implementing the County's Air Quality Program including the asbestos and air toxics programs, compliance activities, air monitoring, and grant management in accordance with Federal/State/County goals and objectives. The position is highly visible to staff, the general public, and the regulated community. Good verbal skills and diplomacy are required to clearly communicate program goals, organizational objectives, address potential violations, seek resolutions, and resolve problems. The ability to write clearly and concisely, document investigations, and resolutions are essential. Documentation includes evaluations, permit review comments, reports of findings, draft correspondence; review warning letters, notice of violation, consent orders, and memos to files.  Position requires the ability to conceptually understand and apply rules and regulations (local, state, and federal), mathematical and scientific concepts. Work is performed with a high degree of independent judgment and latitude in the use of technical discretion and judgment. Position oversees 19 FTE. Responsibilities include providing supervisory leadership, mentoring and training, the development and evaluation of performance goals, and the supporting a culture of continuous learning and teamwork.
