Global Policy Officer – Climate Change

Job Purpose and Background

Are you passionate about the environment and tackling climate change? Would
you like to work with policy makers and financial institutions on these
important topics? CDP has a unique opportunity for a Global Policy Officer
role in CDP’s Policy Engagement team - this opportunity will be ideal for a
dynamic self-starter with excellent administrative skills who is looking for
a starter role in an international organisation.

About the Policy team:

CDP’s Global Policy Engagement team is composed of members based in many
different countries where CDP has operations. The team provides central
oversight of CDP’s relationships with policymakers around the world,
supporting CDP programs and global offices to advance CDP’s mission.
Government action is crucial to fighting environmental impacts and CDP helps
policymakers to achieve their goals and protect the climate and environment.

This role will focus on supporting the Policy Engagement team in their
delivery of CDP’s climate change-related policy work, which includes
supporting policy efforts at international conferences, research and
administrative activity.

Key responsibilities include:

·         Supporting the global policy team with research and undertaking
administrative activity relating to CDP’s policy work

·         Enhancing the CDP Policy database, ensuring the collection,
organization and analysis of public policies relevant to the CDP area of
work, and coordinating with members of the CDP Global Policy Team.

·         Supporting the delivery of policy-related events and outreach
activities, including the UN Climate Summit and COP25.

·         Drafting newsletters & external content as well as internal
policy-related updates and briefings.

·         Working with CDP’s database and analyzing data to contribute to
policy briefings and reports.

Required skills and experience:

·         Experience in advocacy, campaigning and organizing events;

·         Proven track of organizing knowledge and information in an
ordered, structured and accessible manner;

·         Strong research and data analysis skills;

·         Ability to work well to tight deadlines and in circumstances where
things can change quickly, whilst ensuring attention to detail;

·         Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;

·         Strong stakeholder management and project management experience,
including working internationally and across time zones;

·         Interest in policy and influencing governments on climate change,
as well as forests and water;

·         Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other languages,
including French, German or Spanish is an advantage.

This is a full-time, fixed term role until March 2020, based at CDP’s London
office reporting to CDP’s Policy & Public Affairs Manager.

Salary and benefits: £23,500 - 25,000 per annum, 30 days’ holiday pro rata,
generous non-contributory pension provision, life assurance and others.
