Staff Geoscientist /Project Geoscientist - Marine

 

Job Description

The Staff/Project Geoscientist contributes to marine geophysical site
investigation reporting by interpreting and assimilating various
geophysical, geotechnical, and well data under close supervision; writes
technical reports; develops technical skills and knowledge of Fugro's
procedures, computer software and services.

Job Responsibilities:

.        Interprets marine site investigation geophysical / geologic data
and assimilates with geotechnical and offset well data using a computer
workstation.

.        Accurately maps, grids, contours and appropriately presents
geologic surfaces, discontinuities, and other features from geophysical data
using various computer software applications.

.        Maintains project ArcGIS file geodatabases according to standard
procedures and terminology for purposes of data management and map
presentation.

.        Prepares data examples and graphics and works closely with GIS/CAD
coordinator to facilitate presentation-quality charts.

.        Contributes to technical reports.

.        Supervise field and laboratory operations of company and
subcontractors and solve minor problems that may arise in the process. 

.        Expected to be 90% billable to projects (on average) during periods
when the Fugro geoscience group is servicing a substantial project backlog.

.        Works with management and supervisors to identify own learning and
development needs and further develops own technical knowledge relative to
Fugro's core business.

.        Complies with QMS and HSE requirements.

Job Requirements

.        18 years of age.

.        Legally authorized to work in the United States, without
restrictions.

.        M.S. degree or higher in Geoscience (B.S. degree in geoscience
accompanied by some relevant full-time professional industry experience may
substitute for graduate degree); some background in geophysics, oceanography
and/or engineering geology is preferred.

.        No full-time industry experience is required, but some practical
work experience is preferred.

.        Proficient user of MS Office Suite; basic skill level on SMT
Kingdom Suite, ArcGIS, Global Mapper, CorelDraw and other in-house
geoscience software.

Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements
will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their
experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs.
Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job
opportunities might be available, including Staff Geoscientist or Project
Geoscientist.
