. This tenure track Associate Professor position will teach
undergraduate-level courses that support the Agriculture program, is
expected to contribute expertise to student learning in a variety of areas
including but not limited to the following: Agronomy, Entomology, Plant
Pathology, Soil Science, Natural Resources and/or Environmental Sciences,
and advising and is also expected to seek and acquire extramural funding and
contracts for relevant research projects, and participate in department,
college, university, community and professional service activities.
Responsibilities:
* Teach undergraduate level courses in Plant and Soil Sciences.
* Student advisement, evaluation, and counseling.
* Advise undergraduate students and work with student organizations.
* Develop an interdisciplinary research agenda.
* Seek external funding to support scholarly work.
* Engage in service activities with colleagues, the department,
college, university, community and professional organizations.
Required Education and Experience:
* Ph.D. in Plant and Soil Sciences, Agronomy, Natural Resources and/or
Environmental Sciences, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering,
Agricultural Engineering or related fields
* A minimum of five years undergraduate or graduate teaching and
research experiences in: Geographical Information System (GIS) and remote
sensing to study relationships among plant, soil and water; using GIS to
address issues in natural resources and the environment system; large-scale
integrated assessments of natural resources (soil, water, plant ecosystems,
etc.) and how climate change affects resiliency of these resources,
agricultural field experiment; using instruments such as EM38, Ground
Penetrating Radar (GPR), sensors and others.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication skills for
diverse audiences.
* Demonstrate the ability for effective teaching and scholarship.
* Demonstrate support of professional organizations in the discipline
and have the potential for obtaining external funding.
