PhD offer within the project “Develop systematic understanding of the impacts of forest fires emissions on atmospheric circulation and its predictability” at the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Québec in Montréal (UQAM), Montreal, QC, Canada. This project is in close collaboration with Environment Canada and Climate Change (ECCC).

The PhD student will be hosted at the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences of UQAM and will benefit from direct interaction with the extended research group at the Center for the Study and Simulation of Climate at Regional Scale (ESCER), GEOTOP Research Center on the Dynamics of the Earth System and ECCC.

The proposed start date is as early as possible.
The scholarship offered is 21,000$/yr for 3 years as a minimum
We are looking for a PhD candidate with good theoretical understanding of atmospheric and climate dynamics. The PhD candidate
should have the flexibility and basic experience in working with climate models. Skill in running WRF, CESM or other climate models will be an asset.
Good statistic analytical skills are required for this project with experience in data processing softwares (e.g. Matlab, R or Python).
