Dean, Gallogly College of Engineering
The University of Oklahoma (OU) invites nominations and applications for an innovative and visionary leader as Dean of the Gallogly College of Engineering (GCoE). The University of Oklahoma is one of the premier, comprehensive, public, R1 research universities in the nation. The next Dean will have the truly unique opportunity to lead an established College through a phase of rapid investment and growth. The GCoE is at the center of the University's strategic vision to double its research impact, expand enrollments, and become an engine of economic development for the state of Oklahoma. The University seeks an inspiring leader who can help to craft and execute a grand vision for Engineering at OU.
OU is a thriving institution, proud of its public mission and eager to continue its ascent up the ranks of excellence. With the opening of the new Gallogly Hall in Fall 2019, the College is entering a new phase of intense and ambitious development. The University expects to add a significant number of new faculty positions in the short term, and the incoming dean will have a platform to make an immediate and transformational impact on the field and in the world.
The Dean will provide outstanding transformational leadership and have primary responsibility for continuing to build on the academic excellence of the College. The Dean will create entrepreneurial and fundraising activities, articulate the mission of the College to stakeholder groups, and manage a complex academic unit underpinned by collegiality and inclusiveness. The Dean will have responsibility for the administration of, and outreach for, the Gallogly College of Engineering and, most importantly, will champion the rapid growth of the College as well as accelerate the expansion of the research enterprise.
The successful candidate will be a visionary leader and must have a record of excellence in teaching, scholarly or creative activity, and service suitable for appointment as a full tenured professor within an appropriate School in the College; a record of strong, visionary leadership and sound fiscal management at the chair or director level or higher, or comparable experience in industry or government; demonstrated commitment to excellence in engineering research; demonstrated effective skills in communication, planning, collaboration, and management; demonstrated commitments to diversity and shared governance; and an earned doctorate or other terminal research degree in an engineering or a closely related discipline.
