The Department of Geosciences at the University of Connecticut (Storrs) invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor-in-Residence starting in Fall 2019. The successful candidate will primarily contribute to the University’s entry-level geoscience curriculum by teaching traditional and themed introductory geology courses, and by coordinating the ~15 associated laboratory sections taught by graduate students within the Department.  We seek a dynamic and motivated individual who is enthusiastic about the opportunity to lead large lecture courses and dedicated to facilitating inclusive and engaging classroom environments. This position may be renewed, up to an additional two years, based upon performance, the needs of the College, and the availability of funding. Although this position is teaching-focused, the successful candidate will be encouraged to continue their scholarly research and collaborate with current geoscience faculty. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The University standard teaching load for this position is seven 3-credit courses per year, or the equivalent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in geosciences or a related discipline
Excellent oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
College level teaching experience
Experience with coordination of undergraduate labs and supervision of teaching assistants

APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position. Salary will be set at $45,000.
