Freestone Environmental Services, Inc. (www.gofreestone.com<http://www.gofreestone.com>) a multi-disciplinary consulting firm, is seeking to hire an Environmental Scientist to provide support to NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration, Assessment & Restoration Division (ARD).

Overview:

The Environmental Scientist will provide support to the NOAA Assessment & Restoration Division West Coast Branch, which is based in Seattle, WA, and has additional offices in Anchorage, AK, Santa Rosa, CA, and Long Beach, CA.  The candidate designs and conducts Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDA) for waste sites, with a significant focus on the Hanford Nuclear Site in Eastern Washington. The candidate participates with co-trustees to plan appropriate injury assessment and restoration for natural resource injuries and resolve liability and supports the delivery of NOAA products and services to the public. The candidate fosters cooperation and coordination within and outside of National Ocean Service (NOS) to achieve agency missions, goals, and objectives, including those of the NOAA Restoration Center (RC), Damage Assessment, Remediation, and Restoration Program (DARRP), and Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R).



Responsibilities of the incumbent will include working with interdisciplinary and interagency groups to evaluate ecological injuries and recovery trajectories after hazardous materials releases - one being the Hanford NRDA, which includes developing an aquatic restoration plan with co-Trustees that determines appropriate type and scale of restoration to compensate the public for natural resource injuries.
