2020 Stanback Fellow - India Climate Change and Clean Energy

Overview

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. We use law, science and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our staff helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, and many of the implementing regulations; our water enforcement cases played a major role shaping current water policy throughout the country. Today, our staff of more than 500 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy and communications experts, and others, work out of offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bozeman, Montana, and Beijing.



Position Summary:



This position is only for current Duke students.

The India Climate Change and Clean Energy Fellowship project is aimed to maximize NRDC's strategic priority areas on climate change, health & cities and international approach. The Fellowship project is part of the international program and works with experts both internally and externally with expertise in climate change, health, energy efficiency, climate finance and air pollution.

Responsibilities

The Fellow will work with NRDC's India Climate Program on research, analysis and advocacy for exciting climate change and clean energy projects in India. The fellowship includes analysis of India's renewable market, energy efficiency, climate adaption focused on heat stress, air pollution, and implementing the Paris Climate Agreement.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be either a law or public policy graduate student, with excellent writing and research skills. Applicants should be knowledgeable about energy and climate change.
