A federal Pathways position working with our group at EPA located in RTP, NC, has just opened and will close on December 12. Candidates for this position must qualify for US civil service in addition to being within 9 months before or 2 years after graduation from an accredited college or university.

The prospective hire would help with managing EPA Pandora systems and data flow (could be 20+ deployed by end of 2020), particularly calibration data analysis, remote monitoring and exploring new science products (e.g., HONO, H2O, nighttime NO2/NO3). The position would interface with Pandora teams at NASA and ESA, and interact with hosting organizations, primarily state air quality monitoring staff. There are plenty of opportunities to do and support science.

The position is generically written for passive trace gas remote sensing technical support and science. Pathways is a broad federal program seeking to recruit talent to federal employment. In this particular instance the Pathways program is targeting recent graduates (2 years or 5 years as a veteran) with BA/BS (GS7), MS (GS9) and PhD (GS11). First and foremost we are hoping for talented applicants. Our management is keen on hiring master’s level engineers to support research as ORD is PI heavy and intramural contract support dollars are shrinking. In short, we’re open to all levels of education, not just PhDs. The position is a 1 year federal civil servant training position with a strong possibility to convert to career civil service with satisfactory performance.

Kind regards,

Luke
