Staff Associate – Geoinformatics Research

Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory - Palisades, NY

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory is seeking a Staff Associate to 
work within its Marine Geology and Geophysics department. The successful 
candidate will participate in the development and maintenance of digital 
scientific data and information systems operated within the 
Geoinformatics Research Group. The primary responsibility of this 
position will be the management and curation of analytical data for 
Earth and Planetary science samples, including digitization, quality 
control, and database ingestion of geochemical and petrological data and 
metadata from the scientific literature and from datasets submitted by 
investigators. Contribute to improving and documenting data management 
workflows, designing and testing software applications. Generate and 
maintain content of project web sites and social media; help organize 
educational and outreach activities. Assist with project management, 
including team meetings, proposal writing, and generating reports.

The successful candidate with have a Bachelor’s Degree in Earth and 
Environmental Sciences or closely related science and four years or 
related experience in laboratory work in analytical geochemistry and/or 
working with geological samples, or a Master’s Degree in Earth and 
Environmental Sciences or closely related science and two years of 
related experience.

Appointments are made on a fiscal year basis and are eligible for 
renewal each July 1st, contingent upon performance and funding.
