Assistant or Associate Professor in Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M 
University

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University is 
conducting a broad search for candidates with expertise in any area of 
atmospheric sciences, including those that may enhance interdisciplinary 
initiatives at Texas A&M. Candidates working in areas of experimental 
atmospheric chemistry, aerosol science (including bio-aerosols), remote 
sensing and instrumentation, boundary layer meteorology, microphysics, 
climate dynamics, synoptic meteorology, or weather and climate risk are 
especially invited to apply. We anticipate filling this tenure-track 
position at the assistant or associate professor level.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an 
independent and externally funded research program and contribute to 
transformative teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. 
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences or a related field 
at the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is desirable but is 
not required. Applicants seeking appointment at the associate professor 
rank must be recognized leaders in the field with a record of 
scholarship and teaching commensurate with their rank.

houses the Center for Atmospheric Chemistry and the Environment, the 
Texas Center for Climate Studies, and the Office of the Texas State 
Climatologist. The department is part of the College of Geosciences, 
which includes the Departments of Geology and Geophysics, Geography, and 
Oceanography, and the interdisciplinary Environmental Programs and Water 
Management and Hydrologic Sciences degree programs. The College of 
Geosciences also includes the International Ocean Discovery Program and 
Texas Sea Grant, among numerous other interdisciplinary centers. Texas 
A&M University is a land-, sea-, and space-grant university, with a 
dynamic and international community of over 250,000 people.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences or a related field 
at the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is desirable but is 
not required. Applicants seeking appointment at the associate professor 
rank must be recognized leaders in the field with a record of 
scholarship and teaching commensurate with their rank. Initial review of 
applications will begin on September 15, 2019 and continue until the 
position is filled.
