Inclusive Pedagogy in Environmental Studies - Postdoctoral Associate

Job Summary
The Environmental Studies Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in inclusive pedagogy. The Postdoctoral Associate will join a multidisciplinary group of faculty committed to positive change in environmental educational practices, and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in program curricula and culture. This position is granted to persons holding a doctoral degree (or equivalent) and who will be engaged in full-time mentored research and/or scholarship and field-appropriate professional activities. This includes the opportunity to carry out research in inclusive pedagogy under direct mentorship, submit grant applications, draft and submit publications of your research/scholarship, attend or present your research to the greater CU community, and engage with discipline-based education researchers in multiple units at CU Boulder, and with the broader Science Education Initiative (https://www.colorado.edu/sei/<http://www.colorado.edu/sei/>) at the university and DEI initiatives such as the Office of Diversity Equity and Community Engagement.

The Environmental Studies program at CU-Boulder is a hub for facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration in environment and sustainability. Environmental Studies courses integrate the academic divisions of natural science, social science, and humanities, providing skill and knowledge applicable to the pursuit of solutions to environmental challenges faced globally, nationally, regionally, and locally. This position will join a multidisciplinary group of faculty committed to positive change in environmental educational practices, and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in program curricula and culture. Our unit is committed to the concept that a diverse and inclusive workforce is better positioned to find and solve new and compelling problems and to training students that thrive in diverse and inclusive teams.

Research and Creative Work

The Postdoctoral Associate will lead a research program that seeks to address topics such as how classroom-based curriculum modifications impact students' interpersonal skills, learning experience and understanding of environmental studies content, how inclusion-promoting interventions can be sustainably integrated into the environmental studies curriculum, and what system-level and structural changes are effective in supporting departmental change among others.

The associate may use qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches, and will have the opportunity to work with faculty and students to evaluate educational programs and interventions.

Teaching in Environmental Studies

The associate will teach a two-credit graduate course once annually in Inclusive Pedagogy and Leadership. The knowledge generated by the associate's work will contribute to the development of organizational change and inclusive educational approaches that will be applicable to a wide range of settings, including in the academic, public, and private sector.

A salary range of $50,000 - $55,000 per year, commensurate with skills and experience.
