NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Postdoc Fellow in Atmospheric Radiation, Dynamics, and Cloud Remote Sensing

Research description:

The candidate will take part of our research to explore creative ways to better understand fast dynamical and cloud processes in the Earth’s climate system. These processes, which are a challenge for remote sensing from space, play important roles in Earth radiation balance and surface precipitation. Novel analysis methods for the long-term data records from satellite sensors (e.g., MLS, AMSU-A, AIRS, GPM, GPS Radio Occultation) are being sought to uncover the information that is not seen in the past. Multi-angle, multi-platform observations (e.g., MISR stereo, GEO-LEO and GEO-GEO stereo) for cloud-track wind and height creates a 3-D view of the observables that were mostly seen in 2-D (x,y or x,z) with traditional uses of the spaceborne sensors. New sounding technologies (e.g., IceCube) and algorithms with mm and submm-wave radiometry provide a wide range of applications for atmospheric cloud and composition remote sensing. Talent, self-motivated candidates are encouraged to apply and join the diversified research environment at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
