*Position title: *(Post Doc) Research Associate in Organic Contaminant
Uptake by Plants

*Essential Responsibilities:*

We seek an exceptional postdoctoral associate to conduct State-funded
independent research on the plant uptake of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl
substances (PFAS). Activities may include conducting greenhouse studies,
extractions and wet chemistry, method development and mass spectrometry
analysis, and X-ray microscopy. Opportunities exist to interact closely
with a group of distinguished intramural and extramural collaborators, and
interact with a broader network of researchers studying PFAS. Related
activities include laboratory work; data collection at national
laboratories; supervising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate
students; outreach to the community; data analysis; report, manuscript, and
proposal preparation; and presentation of research at local, regional, and
national meetings. The duration is approximately 15 months with the
possibility of extension on related projects or others in the Soil
Biogoechemistry Laboratory. More information about the NC State Soil

*Qualifications:*

A Ph.D. in soil science, chemistry, geochemistry, environmental
engineering, plant science, or a related discipline is required. The
successful candidate should have the demonstrated ability to design
experiments and conduct independent research. Excellent written and verbal
communication skills are essential. A strong publication record is highly
desirable.
