Description of Work
The Geography program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has two
tenure-line faculty positions in Environmental Geography/Human-Environment
Interactions; one Assistant Professor and one Assistant/Associate Professor
positions beginning August 2019. Successful candidates will be expected to
develop a nationally recognized research program; teach geography courses at
the introductory, advanced, and graduate levels; and contribute to program,
college and university affairs; as appropriate to their rank.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Geography or related field from an accredited institution is
required.
Preferred Qualifications
Although the research specializations are open, potential areas of expertise
include: adaptation to climate change in urban and rural areas; political
geography and environmental policy; sustainability and managing
environmental hazards; geography of emerging diseases; medical geography and
human health; geography of food and agriculture. Expertise in the geography
of the Great Plains and/or world grasslands is also of interest. At least
one of the successful candidates will have strong expertise in GIS/spatial
science and will be expected to teach courses in this area. Candidates
should demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence and research
accomplishments, including a strong record of scholarly publication
indicative of national and/or international recognition, appropriate to
rank.
