Exploration Geoscientist - Geosciences (Fixed term - 2 years)

OMV New Zealand Limited, part of  the worldwide OMV group, require a
geoscientist to take
over the role of Exploration Geoscientist - Geosciences Team based in
Wellington.  This role, reporting to the Geosciences Team Lead will be
responsible for implementing approved exploration activities and assuming
responsibility for technical aspects of defined projects.


Yours tasks:


.        Identify and mature leads and prospects in a collaborative
environment using a play based approach.

.        Have sufficient understanding of sub-regional analysis to underpin
our exploration strategy.

.        Assess volumetric ranges and make risk assessments of prospects.

.        Build a high quality prospect inventory from current acreage
portfolio and identify other potential high quality acreage.

.        Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data utilizing state of the art
geophysical and geological techniques.

.        Providing specialist technical advice, input and supervision to the
various technical teams, particularly in geological sub-disciplines e.g.
structural geology, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysics, petroleum system
evaluation, reservoir characterisation, sedimentology and play fairway
analysis.

.        Work closely with specialist support teams to undertake geological
studies to ensure effective and focused specialist support is applied to
maturation of prospects.

.        Generate and present concise reports of work completed as needed to
document results and for partner and governmental reporting.

.        Attendance and presentations at workshops, peer reviews and
Technical Committee Meetings (TCMs) with joint venture partners.
International travel may be required.

.        May be required to act as Permit Lead for specific exploration
permit(s) or exploration projects; providing a weekly report to Joint
Venture (JV) partners.

.        Some well site operations geology duties may be necessary. It is
expected that the Exploration Geoscientist will be capable of completing
UKOOA medical and BOSIET training, and may spend time offshore during the
either seismic acquisition and/or drilling activities.


Your profile:


.        University degree Masters or higher: Geology / Geophysics

.        Geological experience in multiple countries, basins, and geological
environments
(minimum 7 years)

.        Experienced in multiple geological sub-disciplines, including
structural geology, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysics, geochemistry, basin
modelling, reservoir characterisation and/or seal analysis.

.        Experienced user of Petrel, Player and GeoX software
