Job Summary


The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC) at the University
of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position
in the field of synoptic meteorology at the assistant professor level. We
are seeking a person with a proven research record on mid-latitude weather
systems and forecasting. Preference will be given to candidates whose
research will complement current focus areas of our department, including
wind energy, cloud and precipitation processes, as well as weather-climate
linkages. Candidates should already have developed, or should have the
ability to develop in the future, ties to operational weather forecasting
activities. The successful candidate will be expected to attract external
funding, build a vigorous research group, and regularly teach synoptic
meteorology courses and general atmospheric science classes at both the
undergraduate and graduate level. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in
atmospheric science or a related field at the time of appointment, with an
outstanding research record and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate
and graduate teaching.

research that meets the standards expected for appointment as an assistant
professor at an R1 doctoral university.
