The Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering and Penn State's Institutes
of Energy and the Environment invite applications for one (1) immediate
postdoctoral to become the "superuser" of a collection of previously-made
reduced order models for risk assessment. The applicant will work closely
with Dr. Eugene Morgan and colleagues at the National Risk Assessment
Partnership to learn these tools, and then will be expected to apply these
tools to current and past projects, primarily related to carbon storage. As
some consulting is required of the applicant, he/she must be able to travel
domestically and have good people skills.

Strong computer coding skills are desirable, as well as an understanding of
engineered geologic systems, porous and fracture media, near-surface
groundwater hydrology, and/or induced seismicity. Preference will be given
to those applicants demonstrating strong written and oral communication
skills. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in engineering, geosciences, or a
related field.

Interested candidates should submit: application letter highlighting
qualifications for the position; a curriculum vitae including educational
background, employment history, and a list of peer reviewed publications;
contact information of three references. Applicants should provide evidence,
either woven through their application materials or as a separate diversity
statement, of a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusive
excellence, and belonging and of engagement which creates an inclusive
environment in their department/workplace.
