The Department of Natural Resources and the Environment in the School
of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources at the University of
Connecticut seeks applicants for a full-time Postdoctoral Research
Associate in river corridor hydrogeology and biogeochemistry. The
successful candidate will conduct research funded by the National
Science Foundation (PI: Dr. Ashley Helton) to characterize the spatial
distribution of groundwater discharge zones at the scale of river
networks using combined field (i.e., thermal infrared remote sensing)
and regional groundwater modeling (i.e., MODFLOW) techniques. The
Postdoctoral Research Associate will work closely with co-PIs Dr.
Marty Briggs (USGS Hydrogeophysics Branch in Storrs, CT) and Dr. Jeff
Starn (USGS New England Water Science Center), and will collaborate
within the larger project that focuses on quantifying spatial patterns
of legacy nitrogen flux and cycling within near-stream sediments at
groundwater discharge zones.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Earned Ph.D. degree in a related discipline (natural resources,
geology, ecology, etc.).

2. Related field and modeling experience in hydrogeology.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Demonstrated interest and experience in interdisciplinary research.

2. Proficiency with regional groundwater modeling techniques
(i.e., MODFLOW).

3. Experience with field techniques that characterize groundwater
discharge with temperature measurements (i.e., thermal infrared
imagery, thermal modeling of diurnal signals)

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 12 month appointment, renewable annually. Funding
from the National Science Foundation is anticipated in August with an
anticipated start date for the Postdoctoral Research Associate in
January 2019. Salary will be commensurate with experience. For
