Senior Instructor

The Department of Geography & Environmental Sciences (GES) at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track 9-month appointment as a Senior Instructor. GES (clas.ucdenver.edu/ges<http://clas.ucdenver.edu/ges>) seeks an instructor who can enhance the curriculum in environmental science, human-environment interaction, and/or physical geography.

The position is primarily dedicated to the educational mission of GES with 80% of the job devoted to teaching. This effort equates to teaching eight (8) courses each academic year, plus 20% devoted to service activities. Ten percent (10%) of the service component of the position will support lab management and environmental science lab coordination and 10% will include participation in general department and college functions. The successful person will principally support the GES teaching mission/needs, including delivering high quality introductory, upper division and graduate courses related to the applicants' areas of specialization and complement current GES offerings. Commitment to excellence in teaching is expected.

The GES department at CU Denver offers a BA in Geography (approximately 160 majors), a new MA in Applied Geography and Geospatial Sciences and a MS in Environmental Science (approximately 60 graduate students). Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Geography or related field.Experience in teaching and student advising at the university-level. Preferred qualification:

Hands-on field- and laboratory-based curriculum development experience.
