The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is looking for a Geoscience Policy
Intern for Spring 2018. This is a full-time, paid position based out of
Washington, D.C.

AGI is a non-profit organization of 51 member societies that represents a
diverse array of knowledge and shared interests of the geoscience
community. The Geoscience Policy program actively works with Congress and
federal agencies to foster better communication and informed public policy
for geoscience-related issues including water, energy and mineral
resources, natural hazards, environmental protection, and federal funding
for research and education.

AGI seeks an outstanding geoscience or engineering student (BS/BA or MS/MA
level) with a strong interest in federal science policy. The Geoscience
Policy Intern will hone their writing and web publishing skills, while
gaining first-hand policy experience on Capitol Hill and improving their
understanding of the legislative process.

The internship lasts 14 weeks during the spring term (January through
April), and the starting date will be determined in accordance with the
schedule of the successful applicant. The Intern will receive a total
stipend of $5,500, which is provided through a generous grant from the
American Association of Petroleum Geologists Foundation (AAPGF). Geoscience
students with an interest in energy and natural resource issues are
particularly encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, and currently enrolled in or recently
completed a geoscience-related Bachelor's or Master's degree program.
