The Department of Earth System Science and the Woods Institute for the
Environment at Stanford University invite applications for a tenure- track
faculty appointment in the area of *Environmental Risk and Adaptation*. The
focus of the search is on *risks from global environmental change to people
and the planet, including adapting to, planning for, and reducing such
risks*. We are searching for a creative and innovative scholar with a
demonstrated research record who is also committed to high-quality
teaching, including a demonstrated ability or potential in teaching and
mentoring a diverse student body (including women, minorities, and others
from underrepresented backgrounds). The search is open to all levels, but
with a strong preference for a junior appointment.

The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills with potential
to establish a vigorous research program. The successful applicant will
also have demonstrated interests in interacting effectively with a broad
range of colleagues, such as in the School of Earth, Energy and
Environmental Sciences, the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment,
the Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources, across
the university and/or outside institutions. The successful applicant is
expected to teach classes in interdisciplinary and disciplinary programs
and mentor graduate students.
