A Ph.D. assistantship is available in the laboratory of Dr. Tamara Harms at the University of Alaska Fairbanks to study nutrient dynamics of watersheds and freshwater ecosystems in the boreal forest. Research would focus on interior Alaska and integrate with the collaborative research community anchored by the Bonanza Creek Long-Term Ecological Research program. Potential research topics include hydrologic or gaseous nitrogen export from ecosystems subject to permafrost loss or disturbance.
