The University of Kentucky Stable Isotope Laboratory is seeking a Research Facility Manager.
The laboratory is equipped with three ThermoFinnigan Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers (IRMS) and their peripherals, including a EA, TC/EA, Gasbench, and GCC. Additionally, the lab has or is acquiring a Picarro water isotope analyzer, micromill, cryomill, and anaerobic chamber, along with other routine laboratory equipment. The laboratory is utilized by researchers within the department, university, and beyond. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: regular operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the instrumentation; regular monitoring of standard reproducibility; training of new users; guiding day-to-day efforts of multiple undergraduate and graduate students; billing clients; and ordering supplies. Maintenance of three separate IRMS may require being on-call to make appropriate decisions regarding instrumentation malfunctions and resolving problems on evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or facility emergencies. Individual research and grant submittals will be encouraged.
The salary range for this position is between $44,000 and $72,779 annually dependent on education and experience. Minimum experience requirements include a masters and 3 years experience or a PhD. This position has long-term salary support from the College of Arts and Sciences.
