CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Queens College invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position in structural geology/tectonics beginning September 1st, 2018. The successful candidate will teach Structural Geology and Tectonics and a 2-week summer field experience in the tri-state area; participate in a Geologic Methods course and introductory geology courses; and develop advanced courses in his/her area of expertise. S/he will conduct an active research program, and share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
The SEES community includes 15 full-time faculty members, 25 Masters and PhD candidates, and approximately 170 Geology, Environmental Science, and Environmental Studies majors. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will (1) hold a Ph.D. in Geology or equivalent by the starting date of this position, (2) show evidence or promise of success as an educator at the college or university level, (3) provide evidence of scholarly achievements, (4) demonstrate the ability to design, carry out, and support an active research program involving students, and (5) demonstrate the ability to work with colleagues in carrying out departmental functions. The ability to teach an introductory Geographic Information Systems class is a strongly preferred asset.
