   - 9 months (82%) of State funding provided annually. The selectee is
   expected to fund the remainder through external funds. Position is expected
   to begin January 1, 2018 or as mutually acceptable.

Duties and Responsibilities

   1. The School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) was
   established at the University of Hawaii at Manoa to promote excellence in
   interdisciplinary research and undergraduate/graduate education in marine,
   atmospheric, and geological sciences. We seek an individual with expertise
   and research experience in the fields of marine inorganic carbon
   observations, air-sea CO2 fluxes, seawater chemistry, and global carbon
   cycling.
   2. The successful candidate is expected to develop outstanding
   teaching/educational programs, including classroom instruction and
   contributions to both the graduate Oceanography and undergraduate Global
   Environmental Science programs.

Minimum Qualifications

   1. Ph.D. in oceanography, geochemistry, earth sciences, or other
   relevant discipline
   2. Minimum of four years of experience at the Associate or Full
   Professor rank or equivalent, with evidence of increasing professional
   maturity
   3. Demonstrated continuing participation in the scholarly and academic
   affairs of a university of other appropriate organization
   4. Excellent communication skills
   5. Demonstrated capability for creative, high-quality research
   6. Ability to contribute to teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and
   graduate students

Desirable Qualifications

   1. Track record for successfully developing and leading large federal or
   international research programs
