POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR – ATMOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL
SCIENCE, POLICY & MANAGEMENT

A postdoctoral scholar position is available in the Goldstein Research
Group at UC Berkeley focused on development of the new Comprehensive
Thermal Desorption Aerosol Gas Chromatograph (cTAG) instrument through a
DOE SBIR Grant, and its application to measure emissions from biomass
burning during the NOAA sponsored FIREX field campaigns.

Responsibilities will include working as part of the development and
application team for cTAG, development of data analysis tools for
chromatographically separated high resolution time of flight mass
spectrometer data, collection and analysis of field measurements,
collaborating with the cTAG and FIREX science teams, preparation of reports
to funding agencies and manuscripts for peer reviewed publication.

Basic Qualifications (by time of application): Candidates must have
completed all degree requirements except the dissertation or be enrolled in
an accredited PhD or equivalent degree program in Atmospheric Chemistry
(e.g. Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Atmospheric Science) or related
field. Additional Qualifications (by start date) Candidates must have a PhD
or equivalent degree in Atmospheric Chemistry (e.g. Engineering, Chemistry,
Physics, Atmospheric Science) or related field.

Candidates: must also have experience measuring and interpreting data for
atmospheric organic trace gases and/or particulate matter, and have
demonstrated knowledge of mass spectrometry and gas chromatography.

Preferred Qualifications (by start date): Experience developing analytical
measurement instrumentation, experience developing data analysis
tools/software for high resolution mass spectrometry, experience studying
biomass burning emissions, and demonstrated computer coding skills.

Appointment: The targeted start date for this position is between September
2017 and January 2018. The initial appointment is for one year, with
renewal based funding and performance. This is a full-time appointment.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will commensurate with qualifications and
experience level and based on UC Berkeley salary scales. The annual salary
range for this position is $48,216 to $56,400. Generous benefits are
