Other Conditions:
Nine-month equivalent (.82) FTE funds provided. The selectee is expected 
to fund the remainder through external funds. Position is expected to 
begin approximately August 1, 2017 or as mutually acceptable, subject to 
position clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Department seeks candidates with demonstrated research expertise 
preferably with tropical emphasis in areas of atmospheric chemistry, 
tropical cyclones, boundary layer, or tropical meteorology in general. 
Candidates with outstanding track records in other areas are also 
encouraged to apply. In addition, candidates will be expected to teach 
undergraduate and graduate courses preferably in one or more of the 
areas of atmospheric chemistry, tropical cyclones, radar meteorology, 
synoptic, tropical meteorology, and boundary layer meteorology.

Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. earned no later than 1 May 2017 in the area of atmospheric 
sciences or a closely related field
Excellent communication skills
Demonstrated capability for creative, high quality research
Evidence of effectively teaching and mentoring undergraduate and 
graduate students
Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications

In addition to the minimum qualifications stated above, applicants must 
have four year of experience at the rank of assistant professor or 
equivalent, with evidence of increasing professional maturity; scholarly 
achievement judged competent and adequate for the rank in comparison 
with peers active in the same field at major research universities; 
proven record of outstanding research and teaching; and continued 
evidence of participation in the scholarly and academic affairs of a 
university or other appropriate organization.
