The *Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research,* *Karlsruhe
Institute of Technology, Campus Alpin, Garmisch-Partenkirchen,
Germany* is looking for a
*Earth System Modeler and HPC Expert*
at earliest convenience.
The initial contract will be for two years with options for continuation
thereafter.
*The main work tasks for the position are:*
* Research in Earth System Modeling and the field of climate research
and atmosphere/hydrosphere/biosphere interactions
* Initiation of and participation in collaborative Earth System
Modeling activities
* Support of scientific programming and Earth System Modeling
activities in our lab (e.g. WRF/WRF-Hydro/WRF-LES, COSMO-CLM, MPAS,
LPJ-Guess, Landscape DNDC)
* Design, administration, maintenance, operation and user support for
our High Performance Computing (HPC) environment and General
Parallel File Systems (GPFS)
*To be successful the potential candidate should have:*
* PhD in environmental- /natural sciences or computer sciences
* Expert knowledge in Earth System Modeling, preferably in the field
of Land-Atmosphere Interactions, shown by an international
publication record
* Architecture- and administration engineering knowledge of clustered
HPC environments including in-depth knowledge of server hardware,
operating systems, networking services/protocols, and storage
infrastructure (GPFS)
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
