Subject: Postdoc in forest carbon modeling
Position: The USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station and=20
University of Minnesota, Department of Forest Resources are seeking a=20
Researcher (Researcher 6) to support forest carbon modeling and research=20=
for the United States=92 National Greenhouse Gas Inventory. This=20
individual will lead research efforts with a team of scientists from the=20=
USDA Forest Service and University of Minnesota to address carbon stocks=20=
and stock changes in forest ecosystems for national and international=20
reporting instruments. The position is available immediately and=20
includes one and a half years of funding and health insurance. Future=20
funding is contingent on satisfactory progress and success in securing=20=
additional funds.
Qualifications: PhD in forestry, natural resources, or a closely related=20=
field. The ideal applicant will have experience with statistical=20
techniques and employing large datasets such as National Forest=20
Inventory data to address research questions. Applicants should also=20
have a strong work ethic, be able to work independently and=20
cooperatively with researchers and analysts, and have demonstrated=20
writing and quantitative capabilities.
