The Environmental Geochemistry and Oceanography research group at the
University of Hong Kong invites applications for a PhD-student position in
paleoceanography, environmental oceanography or biogeochemistry. The
precise subject of the thesis will be decided upon agreement between the
candidate and the supervisor and will depends on the candidate interests
and strengths and the research interest of the group, which include
paleoceanography, trace element in carbonated microfossils, nitrogen cycle
(past and present) and marine pollution. We encourage applications from
enthusiastic and self-motivated students who have demonstrated academic and
research excellence in environmental or earth sciences, chemistry, or a
related quantitative discipline. Applicants should have a 1st class honours
degree or a 2.1 honours degree plus Master's (or equivalent). Experience in
geochemistry and/or mass spectrometry is considered an asset. Successful
applicants will be supported in their application to the Hong Kong PhD
Fellowship Scheme (HKPF) and will have the chance to join the University of
Hong Kong, ranked 25th in the field of Earth and Marine Sciences by the
2016 QS World University Subject Ranking. Today, HKU is recognized
