*About Aclima*
Aclima designs and deploys sensor networks that advance environmental
intelligence to improve human health and planetary health. Our networks
collect, process, and analyze real-time data flowing from thousands of
environmental sensors, both stationary and on vehicles, enabling a level of
environmental inquiry that has never been possible before. Working closely
with partners, we help translate that data into actionable insights,
empowering people to change the way we design and manage our buildings,
communities, and cities. It is our mission to use this new body of
knowledge to create a more resilient, healthy and thriving world. For more
information, please visit www.aclima.io.
*A. Data Scientist: Indoor Environmental Quality Modeling & Measurement
Interpretation*
*Position Overview:*
Aclima is seeking a data scientist with expertise in analysis and modeling
in the areas of indoor air quality, building science, or human exposure.
The job offers opportunities to analyze data from large-scale, global
sensor networks from deployments in commercial buildings, and to guide new
data product development efforts. To succeed at this position a candidate
must demonstrate strength in strategic thinking, and contribute to the
development of collaborations and data products across industry, government
and research sectors. We are especially interested in approaches that
combine traditional air quality analysis techniques with technologies and
tools for extracting insights from “big data” in novel and creative ways.
Aclima is a fast-paced work environment with a highly interdisciplinary
team. During this phase of growth we are seeking individuals who are
self-starters and are excited about the opportunity to help us define our
next steps across a variety of environmental applications. The
responsibilities of the position will be tailored to the experience level
of the successful candidate.
*Qualifications:*
- Advanced degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or
Public Health with 3-5 years of experience in indoor air quality / built
environment modeling or data analysis. Candidates who are more experienced
and interested in leadership opportunities are also welcome to apply.
- Strong grasp of air quality fundamentals (transformation and transport
processes in indoor environments). Ability to explain empirically observed
trends and relationships mechanistically, based on physical principles
(i.e. properties of the pollutant and the sensing environment).
- Fluency in data acquisition and analysis techniques and familiarity
with basic scripting languages (e.g., Python, Matlab, R)
- Experience in signal processing (time series analysis, frequency
domain, filtering, etc) and a strong foundation in statistical techniques
(e.g. regression, model assessment, Bayesian parameter estimation, etc).
- Experience with large-scale data analysis techniques, including data
mining and machine learning.
- Deep familiarity with current academic research.
*B. Aerosol Sensor Scientist*
*Position Overview:*
Aclima is seeking a research scientist with expertise in particulate matter
measurement and quantitative analytical and signal processing techniques.
The job offers opportunities to design and execute experiments to test new
sensor technologies in both the laboratory and the field and will involve
routine hands-on work to build testing infrastructure. To succeed at this
position a candidate must demonstrate enthusiasm for quantitative
assessment of data quality and measurement interpretation and associated
computational skill. We are especially interested in candidates with
experience working with low-cost sensors including optical and MEMS-based
devices. The position calls for an approach that moves beyond empirical
observations to assess technologies based on physical operating principles
and the potential for biases across a range of operating conditions.
Aclima is a fast-paced work environment with a highly interdisciplinary
team. During this phase of growth, we are seeking individuals who are
self-starters and are excited about the opportunity to help us define our
next steps across a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental
applications. The exact responsibilities of the position will be tailored
to the experience level of the successful candidate.
*Qualifications:*
- Familiarity with traditional particle sensing technologies
(gravimetric and real-time, e.g., OPC, TEOM, BAM, CPC, SMPS).
- Advanced degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or
Public Health with 3-5 years of experience with particulate matter
measurement. More experienced candidates interested in leadership
opportunities are encouraged to apply.
- Competency in data acquisition and analysis techniques and familiarity
with basic scripting languages (e.g., Python, Matlab, R) .
- Experience in signal processing (time series analysis, frequency
domain, filtering, etc) and a strong foundation in statistical techniques
(e.g. regression, model assessment, Bayesian parameter estimation, etc).
- Strong grasp of air quality and aerosol fundamentals and associated
human health impacts.
- Deep familiarity with current academic research and governmental
regulations.
*Equal Employment Opportunity:*
Aclima provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and
applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex,
national origin, age, disability or genetics. In addition to federal law
requirements, Aclima complies with applicable state and local laws
governing nondiscrimination in employment in every location.
*Compensation and Benefits:*
Aclima employees work incredibly hard, and we work incredibly hard to thank
them. We offer a competitive compensation package, equity potential and
excellent benefits. You’ll appreciate our challenging work environment,
exceptional colleagues, strong business momentum, and the ability to make a
difference. Benefits include: medical, dental, vision, 401K, company events
and an extraordinary culture.
*To Apply:*
Please submit a cover letter and resume detailing why you are the ideal
candidate for this role at Aclima.
