Post-doctoral researcher position at Stanford University to study the dynamics and impacts of extreme climate events
The Climate and Earth System Dynamics Lab at Stanford University invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher to study the dynamics and impacts of extreme climate events. Areas of emphasis include (1) “single event attribution”, (2) the physical dynamics that create unprecedented extreme events, and (3) empirical analyses of the impacts of extremes on natural and/or human systems.
Candidates should have a PhD in a field relevant to the study of climate extremes. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to carry out creative, innovative, independent research, and to publish in the peer-reviewed literature. The position is available immediately. The initial appointment is expected to be for one year, with the possibility of renewal depending on performance and availability of funds. Interested applicants should send the following materials to Prof. Noah Diffenbaugh (via email at diffenbaugh at stanford.edu <mailto:diffenbaugh at stanford.edu>): (1) a curriculum vitae, (2) a statement of research experience and interests, and (3) the names and contact information of at least three individuals from whom letters of reference may be requested.
