This position, as part of a cluster hire of three positions at OSU
addressing water supply and quality will address critical water
management issues in the state, region, nation and globe, focusing on
providing innovative engineering solutions to current water management
problems in managed and natural systems. The successful candidate will
develop a nationally recognized research program in one or more of the
following areas:
1. Development and utilization of advanced data collection/sensing
systems, data assimilation and hardware/software systems to manage
water resources, with an emphasis on management of agricultural
systems. Creative discovery in the domain of novel sensing and
wireless/digital/data-driven decision support systems is central to
this position.
2. New technology development for collection, analysis and utilization
of real-time data streams to improve management and utilization of
water resources from field scales to landscape scales.
3. Innovative social strategies and technologies to implement
integrated strategies to improve water management.
Application areas will emphasize agricultural production, which might
include food, fuel and fiber production, horticultural production
systems, and natural systems. The position will incorporate both
experimental, analysis and outreach dimensions, and will emphasize the
development of advanced technologies to measure, monitor, assess and
improve applied water management.
The successful candidate may teach one graduate-level class per year
(quarter system) in the area of water resources engineering and/or
technology, and provide outreach/training opportunities within the
state. Creative strategies to foster student success and diversity is an
important aspect of this position.
