Postdoc Advertisement for Powell Center GRACE Group - December 2016
The Powell Center GRACE group is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on a new initiative titled "Integrating GRACE Satellite and Ground-based Estimates of Groundwater Storage Changes." The candidate will be expected to access and provide data on different GRACE solutions and global models, such as GLDAS NOAH, MOSAIC, VIC, or CLM. Conducting interdisciplinary research will be essential as the candidate will be required to work in an integrated team of geodesists, hydrologists, hydrogeologists. The candidate must be familiar with basic concepts in water resources and have a demonstrated ability to conduct independent research. Expertise with Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS) and Matlab, R, or similar programming language is preferred. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Geology/Hydrogeology, or Civil/Electrical/Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science, or related field. The postdoctoral fellow position is available for one year. Start time can range from Jan 1 to July 1, 2017. Funding for the position is provided by the USGS Powell Center and the National Science Foundation through the University of Texas at Austin. The position will be at the Bureau of Economic Geology, Jackson School of Geosciences, University of Texas at Austin.
