A postdoctoral Associate position in land surface biogeochemistry is
available in the Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global
Change at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), to work on the
use of Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) products to improve the
parameterizations of land surface biogeochemical models, improve the
understanding of key processes and controls underlying the CH_4 and N_2
O emissions, and assess the fate of key trace gas emissions under
climate change scenarios and the contributions of individual and
combined emissions to the climate feedbacks.
The candidate will collaborate with others on the research team.
Candidates must have a PhD degree in atmospheric sciences,
biogeochemistry, or a closely related field. Experience in developing
and running numerical models to investigate the above research topics,
analyzing large-scale data set, and using computer languages such as
Fortran is highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communication
skills are important as the candidate will be expected to contribute to
peer-reviewed publications and presentation of results at national and
international conferences. The salary will be competitive and
commensurate with relevant experience. Interested candidates should
