Postdoctoral Position Opening at RSMAS to work on SST biases in coupled climate models.
The Atmospheric Science Department at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) is seeking a Post Doctoral Associate to diagnose the fast error growth processes contributing to the SST biases evident in the eastern subtropical and equatorial basins in coupled climate models. Tools are the initialized seasonal climate forecasts from the US National Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME) phase II datasets. Further flux override experiments will explore the contribution of the net surface shortwave radiation and wind stress errors to the fast SST error growth and includes assessing the impact of spatial model resolution. The primary focus is on the Pacific basin and secondarily on the Atlantic basin. The postdoctoral research associate will primarily work with Dr. Paquita Zuidema and Dr. Ben Kirtman, and will be expected to lead the work including publications and to present at scientific conferences. This position is for one year, renewable for a second year. Ph.D. in relevant field is required. RSMAS offers a competitive salary with benefits and an attractive work environment. The position will remain open until filled. If interested, please contact Paquita Zuidema at pzuidema at rsmas.miami.edu<mailto:pzuidema at rsmas.miami.edu>.
