*Postdoctoral Position: Developing Novel Nanoparticle Spectroscopies for
Environmental Chemistry at UC San Diego*

The Center for Aerosol Impacts on Climate and the Environment (CAICE) in
the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of
California, San Diego is currently looking for a highly motivated and
talented individual for a Postdoctoral Fellow position. The fellow will
conduct research under the supervision of Profs. Wei Xiong and Robert
Continetti. The research focus for this position is highly
interdisciplinary. The fellow will develop novel time-resolved
spectroscopic techniques to study the surface properties, morphology of
isolated nanoparticles in the gas phase under the impact of radiation.
Experimental techniques including aerodynamic lens systems and
electrodynamic balances will be used to prepare isolated gas-phase aerosols
for investigation. Individuals with experience in areas including ultrafast
spectroscopy, ultrahigh vacuum techniques, molecular beams and
radiofrequency ion traps are strongly encouraged to apply. The fellow will
also have the opportunity to practice leadership, collaboration and
communication skills by mentoring graduate and undergraduate researchers as
well as establishing collaborations with other CAICE scientists.

This position is currently available, the start-date is flexible, but an
early start is preferred. The initial appointment will be on one-year
basis, with the opportunity for renewal contingent on funding and
performance. A Ph.D in chemistry, physics, environmental science or related
