*Full time, Fixed term until 30 June 2018. National Centre for 
Atmospheric Science – Climate*

**

We need a talented scientist to carry out research on the drivers and 
mechanisms of variability and change in East Asian climate as part of 
two projects (LOTUS: Long Term Undulation versus secular change in 
Chinese Climate and DYVA: Global Dynamics of climate Variability and 
impacts on East Asia) which are funded through the Met Office led 
Climate Science for Service Partnership: China (CSSP China), supported 
by the Newton Fund.

You will analyse observations and conduct numerical climate model 
experiments to improve scientific understanding of the drivers and 
mechanisms that govern changes in drought and extreme temperatures over 
China, with a particular focus on the role of anthropogenic greenhouse 
gases, aerosols, and variability in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

You will have:

- A PhD in physical or mathematical science

- Strong scientific analytical ability, creativity and self-motivation

- Interest in the role of the oceans and anthropogenic forcing in 
climate and climate prediction

- Experience in computer programming and data analysis.
