Position Summary
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS) at the
Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applicants for a
temporary full-time lecturer (Category II) position to teach Geography
orGIS. The one-year position will be for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be able to teach lower and upper division
courses in the Land Use Program or other areas based on department

Teaching will consist of 30 credits per academic year (typically 5
courses per semester). Teaching may include online or face-to-face
courses during the day, evening, or weekends. The successful candidate
will work and interact with a diverse group of individuals and be
sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.
The Category II faculty member’s duties include:
1) teaching assigned classes or delivering on-line content consistent
with university, school, and department policies;
2) providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with current
content and student learning outcomes that are provided in the regular
course syllabus;
3) participating in program and general studies course assessment methods;
4) being available, either face to face or electronically, to students
in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed; and
5) complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction
policies and peer observation policies.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Geography or anEASrelated field.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate and teaching experience at an accredited institution of higher
education.
