*Postdoc and PhD positions at the University of Massachusetts—Amherst –
Soil Biogeochemistry*

We are inviting applications for fully funded PhD and postdoc positions in
the Soil Biogeochemistry group at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Successful candidates will conduct research into the role of
microbe-mineral-organic matter interactions in elemental cycling,
particularly that of carbon, and their susceptibility to climate change
impacts. The candidates will combine detailed molecular analyses,
laboratory experiments, and field manipulations to link fundamental
biogeochemical processes to the functioning of the whole soil ecosystem.
This research will provide the opportunity to integrate cutting-edge
synchrotron-based spectroscopy/microscopy, mass spectrometry, isotope
tracer, and molecular biology techniques. Potential start dates are
negotiable. Inquiries for further information should be sent to Dr. Marco
Keiluweit (keiluweit at umass.edu).
