Dear Colleagues,

The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at Boston College (http://www.bc.edu/schools/cas/geo.html) invites applications for the College funded full-time technical position in support of the Department’s Major Analytical Research Laboratories.  These laboratories primarily include, Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS), Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS), Clean Analytical Geochemistry Laboratory, and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).  Responsibilities include: user training and analytical assistance, clean lab sample preparation, technique development, lab management, and instrument calibration, operations, and maintenance. Participation in the initiation, interpretation, and dissemination of laboratory-related Departmental research is expected and encouraged.  Review of applications will begin July 13th, 2015.  The desired start date is September 1st 2015, though this is negotiable.

Applicants should have a PhD in geoscience, chemistry, or a related field, and a strong background in isotope geochemistry and/or analytical chemistry. Five years experience with mass spectrometry (ideally TIMS and IRMS) and related clean lab chemistry and sample preparation is required.  Additional postdoctoral and/or laboratory manager experience is desirable.
