These two positions have just been advertised with a very short closing
date.  Please circulate.

*Lecturer (Climate) (Level B, 3-year Fixed Term)*

The newly formed School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment (SEAE) at
Monash University seeks to make an appointment for a specialist in climate
studies to fill a 3-year fixed-term position, available from March 2015.

The new appointee, at the Lecturer B Level, will be expected to teach into
the climatology subjects of the Climate Science, Environmental Earth
Sciences and Geographical Sciences teaching streams of SEAE, and to develop
research linkages across the School.

Teaching duties will cover foundation units in climate science, which
include aspects of climate variability, climate change, land-atmosphere
interactions, atmospheric measurements and palaeoclimatology.

Research activity in an area of climate science or physical geography is
also required.

The newly formed School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment (SEAE) at
Monash University is
seeking to appoint a bio-geographer to the physical geography program
within the School. The new appointee at the Lecturer B Level will be
expected to teach into the Environmental Earth Sciences and Geographical
Sciences teaching streams of SEAE and to develop research linkages across
the School.

The successful candidate will have a teaching/research specialisation in
one or more of the following areas
* palynology/palaeo-environmental reconstruction
* application of GIS/remote sensing/spatial methods in biogeography
* vegetation modelling within an earth-system science framework
