Ladder Faculty Search in Atmospheric Chemistry
The UCLA Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AOS) and the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IOES) jointly seek candidates for a ladder faculty position in the broad area of atmospheric chemistry. We are particularly interested in candidates who are committed to advancing development of atmospheric chemistry/air quality models and their applications. Candidates with focus on measurements in the field or laboratory are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a strong interest in applying models/measurements to study environmental issues. Examples include, but are not limited to, climate change due to air pollution, exposure/human health, atmospheric responses to changes in energy infrastructure, and/or other similar topics. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential to conduct exceptional research and excellence in teaching. In addition, she or he will show a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of AOS and IOES faculty members, graduate student population, and majors within the field. The appointment can be made at any level of seniority. The position will be 50% in each department.
The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree at the time of appointment and will be expected to lead or develop a first rate program of research in Atmospheric Chemistry. He or she will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of AOS and IOES, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The target start date is on or after July 1, 2016.
Please submit your online application to the Search Committee for a faculty position in Atmospheric Chemistry at https://recruit.apo.ucla.edu/apply/JPF01871. Please include: (1) curriculum vitae; (2) cover letter; (3) a statement of teaching; (4) a statement of research; and (5) a list of 3-5 individuals who are familiar with your work and can serve as references.
