The College of Science, Health, and Engineering at Eastern Washington=20
University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in th=

Department of Biology in area of Ecosystem Ecology to begin mid-September=

2015.=20

The successful applicant will be expected to (1) teach courses in ecology=
=20
and area of expertise, contribute to introductory courses for majors and=20=

non-majors, and possibly to the Environmental Science Program; (2) develo=
p=20
and sustain an active research program that complements the strengths of=20=

our faculty. (3) obtain external funding to support scholarly activities;=
=20
(4) supervise master's theses and undergraduate research; (5) advise and=20=

mentor undergraduate students in Biology and Environmental Science; (6)=20=

professionally engage with the local community; (7) engage in effective=20=

teaching and assessment of learning outcomes; and (8) candidates are=20
encouraged to express their interest and/or experience in online learning=
.=20

The Department of Biology includes a diverse faculty and over 450=20
undergraduate majors and Masters-level graduate students focusing on=20
evolutionary, ecological, molecular, physiological, microbial, and health=
=20
sciences. Faculty members collaborate with the local medical community,=20=

resource management agencies, and private businesses to provide education=
al=20
and research opportunities for our students.=20

Eastern is a regional, comprehensive university with an enrollment of ove=
r=20
12,000 students. The region offers a variety of cultural activities, high=
=20
quality schools, and year round opportunities for outdoor recreation.=20=20=


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. in a biological sciences, ecosystem ecology, or closely related=20
field.=20

ABD candidates will be considered, but they must complete their doctoral=20=

degree before Sept 15, 2015.=20

The successful candidate must be committed to quality teaching of a diver=
se=20
student population, and actively enhancing opportunities for traditionall=
y=20
underrepresented student populations.=20

Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting=20=

cultural competency and/or diversity.=20=20

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least one year of post-doctoral experience;=20

Teaching experience in ecology;=20

Research program that provides opportunities for undergraduate and gradua=
te=20
students.
