Department of Environmental Studies and Science
within the
Dyson College
of
Arts and Sciences of
Pace University
invites
applications
for a
n
anticipated
full
-
time, tenure track
position at the rank of
Assistant Professor
to begin September, 2015
.
The Department houses both
undergraduate and graduate
programs
in Environmental Science.
The position is located on Pace
University's Pleasantville,
NY, campus, which is 40 miles north of New York City.
Applicants should have an earned PhD
in a relevant field of study,
with a strong research agenda and
teaching e
xperience in the broad field of landscape
ecology
, particularly ecological study of the
urban
and suburban landscape
, although applications from other
environmental science
disciplines
are
invited
.
The ideal applicant would utilize theoretical concepts to solve real 
world issues that relate to
the protection and/or restoration of the natural
environment. The applicant should
be able to
integrate field observations and laboratory techniques as part of 
his/her research program
and have
expertise in experimental design and statistical analysis of ecological data
.
T
eaching responsibilities
include
undergraduate and graduate courses,
including mentoring of Master
'
s Theses,
as well as
teaching
a general
ecology course for Environmental Studies
students
and other non
-
science majors.
A strong commitment to teaching and developing an externally
funded research program, as
evidenced by excellent peer
-
reviewed publications, is required.
