Graduate Student Positions in Climate Change Research, Simon Fraser
University
The Climate Research Lab in the Department of Geography at Simon Fraser
University (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada), led by Dr. Kirsten
Zickfeld, invites applications from prospective Master's and Doctoral
students interested in pursuing climate change research using Earth
System models.
The Climate Research Lab pursues research in the following areas: (1)
Long-term effects of human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases and
aerosols on climate, (2) Reversibility of human-induced climate change,
(3) Feedbacks between climate and the carbon cycle, (4) Emission
trajectories and budgets compatible with avoiding "dangerous" climate
change, (5) Climate tipping points. For further details see

Specific research projects will be developed in consultation with the
student.
Funding is available for 2 graduate student positions (2 years for
Master's, 4 years for Doctoral students) in the form of research and
teaching assistantships starting in September 2015.
Students of all scientific backgrounds, particularly students with
training in climate and atmospheric science, oceanography, earth
science, physical geography, physics or related disciplines are
encouraged to apply. Strong quantitative skills and excellent oral and
written communication skills are expected. Experience in computer
programming is an asset.
