Sackler-Clarendon Associate Professorship of Sedimentary Geology and
Sackler Fellow in Earth Sciences
We seek to appoint an Associate Professor in Sedimentary Geology from 1
August 2014 or soon thereafter. The successful candidate will work at the
Department of Earth Sciences and will hold a Tutorial Fellowship (the
Sackler Fellowship in Earth Sciences) at St Peter's College. The
appointment will be initially for five years at which point, upon
completion of a successful review, the post holder will be eligible for
reappointment to the retiring age.
We welcome applications from scientists researching sedimentary geology,
petrology, and sedimentology, and from those using expertise in a broad
range of related disciplines (e.g. stratigraphy, palaeontology, mineralogy,
geochemistry, geomorphology, tectonics) to study sedimentary processes and
deposits. The successful candidate will have a PhD in earth sciences or a
related subject. The main duties of the post are to carry out research at
an international level, to secure research funding, to teach, supervise and
examine undergraduate and postgraduate students, and to participate in and
contribute to the administration of the Department. The appointee will be
an Official Fellow of St Peter's College and will have responsibility for
the teaching of earth sciences within the College, including relevant
administrative work and undergraduate admissions.

Salary on a combined College and University scale within the range £43,745
- £58,739 p.a., plus £7,320 p.a. taxable and pensionable College housing
