Description

The Boreal Ecosystems Research Institute (BERI) located at Grenfell Campus,
Memorial University of Newfoundland is seeking a candidate for a
tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate
Professor level. Expertise in one or more of the following disciplines is
required: near-surface hydrogeology, unsaturated zone hydrology, chemical
and colloidal transport, contaminant hydrology, and carbon flux. The
successful candidate will complement existing strengths in the
environmental and ecological sciences on the Grenfell Campus. Preference
will be given to candidates with training and research experience in
development and testing of near-surface hydrological models from pedon to
landscape scale in natural and managed systems.

The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent,
externally funded research program and teach environmental science courses
related to the candidate's discipline at undergraduate and graduate levels.
A Ph.D. degree in a relevant field of science or engineering is required.
Postdoctoral research experience or track-record of supervising graduate
students is strongly preferred. The successful candidate is also expected
to be involved in Grenfell Campus's broader efforts in soil and water
resources, hydrology, climate, ecology, and related interdisciplinary
areas. Opportunities exist to collaborate in cross-disciplinary initiatives
with Grenfell's Environmental Science and Studies Units and its
Environmental Policy Institute, the Labrador Institute, the Canadian Forest
Service and the College of the North Atlantic.
